We’ll have the final count after some leftover cupcakes are distributed today (sorry guys, they’re all sold) but to have doubled what we sold in 2009 is a huge huge achievement.

If you have registered to help out on the day, arrive 15 minutes early to give any assistance where needed. We have nearly 50 people registered to help out with anything (which is about five times more than we need) but the way you can help now is to spread the word! If you really want to help, invite all your friends to Cupcake Camp and print out the posters and put them up at work or your school!

Bakers registration is still open and will close on Friday, March 25th. If you still want to help out by baking there is still another five days to register to help. If you need a recipe or any hints or tips just ask!

If you’re a baker, share the event on your Facebook wall, invite all your Facebook friends and ask for them to come along and support us – and support you helping such a great cause!

There are still people up there in regional areas of Queensland who need our support, along with those across in our friendly neighbour New Zealand.

We are most likely going to send our funds to the Red Cross with a note to distribute as urgently needed across these latest disaster recovery efforts, but we will make a final announcement on the day of Cupcake Camp as to the decision.

We’ve all sat here and watched helplessly as buildings have fallen down and towns have flooded, but now it is our turn to give back. Either way, it will always be going to help people in need, and that’s the real driving force behind Cupcake Camp Adelaide.

I’m very proud to announce that so far, we have 33 bakers registered! Between us all I’m sure we’ll be baking well over 1000 cupcakes – woo hoo!

If you’re thinking about becoming a baker and you’re not sure on your skills, why not register to come along to our free bakers training session? On March 17, we’re getting together at the venue to familiarise yourself with cake and cupcake decorating equipment and tools, and also see a free demonstration and take home a vanilla cupcake recipe.

Many families did not get a Christmas, or many are about to have theirs washed away.

Cupcake Camp Adelaide 2011 is scheduled for late March / early April, and we know this is still a while away. However, the people of Brisbane, Toowoomba, Ipswich, all the smaller towns nearby and all the flood affected areas out in the far north will need our assistance long after the waters recede.

If you would like to volunteer for a position at Cupcake Camp this year, fill out the forms. Even if you don’t bake cupcakes, or you’re busy on the day, we need people to spread the word in their area of the city. From Gawler to Victor Harbor, and from Port Adelaide to Mt Barker, we need to get the word out.

We will have a date set by the end of January and can tell you it will be on a Sunday like last time, from 2pm – 5pm.
